Experience God For A Lifetime
Our heartbeat at CB KiDS is simple: we want every KiD to experience God for a lifetime. These resources are here to help you bring faith into the everyday moments at home—because parenting is better when we do it together.
At CB KiDS, our heart is for every child to experience God for a lifetime. We know that faith begins in the home, around the dinner table, at bedtime, or even in the carpool line, and you don’t have to do it alone. That’s why we’ve created this space just for you. Here you’ll find weekly family devotionals aligning with our Sunday lessons, a Spotify playlist to fill your home with truth, and other resources to encourage you along the way.
Parenting is better when we do it together, and at CB KiDS we’re with you—cheering you on as you raise KiDS who love and follow Jesus.
Faith at home starts now!
The Month of August
In August, we are starting at the very beginning and over the next two years, our kids will learn how the Biggest Story (the Story of Jesus’ rescue of us) is woven throughout every part of the bible, from beginning to end and everywhere in between. Our hope is to give kids at Coppell Bible the foundational understanding that the whole Bible is about God’s love for us and His rescue plan to save us from sin through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection!
Big Truth:
God created us in His image, He loves us, and He had a plan to rescue us from sin from the very beginning through Jesus.
Memory Verse – Ephesians 1:4
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.”
Week of August 2nd
Bible Passage: Genesis 1-2
Big Idea: A very good God made a very good world, with humans as his very good image bearers.
Discussion Questions:
- Toddlers/Preschool: Who made the world? (God!) What did God say about everything He made? (It was very good!) Who made you? (God!) How did God make people special? (He made us in His image!)
- Early Elementary: What did God create uniquely to be like Him? What does it mean that God made people in His image? Why did God make us this way?
- Preteens: What does the story of creation teach us about what God is like? (powerful, loving, creative, etc.) How should being made in God’s image affect the way we view ourselves, other people, and the world God created?
Prayer:
"God, thank You for creating a very good world and for making us in Your image. Help us to care for Your creation and treat others with love, dignity, and respect. We love because you love us. Thank You for making us and loving us. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen."
Family Challenge of the Week:
This week, spend time together enjoying the world God made together. Go on a walk, visit a park, have a picnic outside, look at the stars, or simply spend time observing the plants, animals, sky, and other parts of God’s creation around you.
As you spend time outside, take turns pointing out something you see and saying, “God made that, and it is good!”
Take time to thank God for the beauty and goodness of His creation and remember that He made people uniquely in His image.
Week of August 9th
Bible Passage: Genesis 3
Big Idea: Sin suffering, and death came into the world because humans disobeyed, but God had a plan to make it right!
Discussion Questions:
- Toddlers/Preschool: What did Adam and Eve do? (They disobeyed God!) What happened when sin came into the world? Did God still love Adam and Eve? (Yes!) Did God have a plan to make things right? (Yes!)
- Early Elementary: What did Adam and Eve do wrong? What happened because sin entered the world? How did God show love and kindness to Adam and Eve, even after they sinned? What plan did God have to make things right?
- Preteens: Why was Adam and Eve’s sin more serious than simply breaking a rule? How did sin change the relationship between God and humanity and affect the world? Where do we see God’s grace and love even in the middle of this very bad day? How does Genesis 3 point forward to God’s plan to rescue us through Jesus?
Prayer:
"God, we are sorry for the ways we disobey You and choose our own way. Thank You that You did not leave us in our sin and that You had a plan from the very beginning to make things right. Thank You for sending Jesus to rescue us from sin and bring us back to You. Help us to trust You and follow Your ways because you know what is best. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen."
Family Challenge for the Week: “The Good News” Challenge
This week, look for opportunities to notice the brokenness caused by sin—things like hurt, sadness, selfishness, sickness, or conflict. When you notice something difficult, pause and remind one another:
“This is not the way God intended the world to be, but God had a plan to make it right!”
Take some time to talk together as a family about something in your life that you’ve seen be broken because of sin that God made a way to make good. (Genesis 50:20, what the enemy means for evil, God turns for good!)
Then take time to thank God for Jesus, the One who came to rescue us from sin and make all things new.
Week of August 16th
Bible Passage: Genesis 3–4
Big Idea: Sin was everywhere and in everyone, but God still had a plan.
Discussion Questions:
- Toddlers/Preschool: What is sin? (Disobeying God) Did sin make the world better or worse? (Worse!) Does everyone sin? (Yes!) Did God still have a plan? (Yes!)
- Early Elementary: How did sin continue to affect people and the world after Adam and Eve sinned? What happened between Cain and Abel? Does everyone sin? Why do we need God’s help? What does this story remind us about God’s plan to rescue us from sin?
- Preteens: How do we see the effects of sin spreading through Genesis 3–4? What does Cain’s story teach us about the danger of allowing sin and jealousy to grow in our hearts? Why is it important to recognize that sin is a problem for everyone, not just “bad people”? How does knowing that God had a plan to rescue sinners give us hope?
Prayer:
"God, we confess that sin is not just a problem in the world around us—it is a problem in our own hearts too. Thank You that You did not abandon us because of our sin. Thank You for having a plan to rescue us and make things right. Help us to recognize our sin, turn to You, and trust in Your plan of salvation through Jesus. In Him Name we pray, Amen."
Family Challenge of the Week: “The Ripple Effect”
Fill a bowl or container with water. Drop in a small object, such as a pebble, and watch the ripples spread outward.
Talk together about how one choice can affect many people. Sin often starts with one wrong choice, but its effects can spread—just like the ripples in the water.
Then, throughout the week, look for examples of how a choice affects others. When someone makes a sinful choice, talk about how it impacted other people.
Finally, remind each other who can help us in our sin-God! He gives us the Holy Spirit when we believe in Jesus to help us make better choices and He gives us His Word that tells us how to live the right way!
Week of August 23rd
Bible Passage: Genesis 6–9
Big Idea: God sent a flood to judge all the wickedness on earth, but He protected His people and made a promise to them.
Discussion Questions:
- Toddlers/Preschool: Who told Noah to build an ark? (God!) Did God take care of Noah and his family? (Yes!) What did God put in the sky as a sign of His promise? (A rainbow!) Does God always keep His promises? (Yes!)
- Early Elementary: Why did God send the flood? How did God protect Noah and his family? What promise did God make after the flood? Why can we trust God to keep His promises?
- Preteens: What does the story of the flood teach us about God’s holiness and His judgment of sin? How did God show both justice and mercy in this story? How does this story point us toward God’s greater plan to rescue people from sin through Jesus?
Prayer:
"God, You are holy and just, and You always do what is right. Thank You for showing mercy to Noah and his family and for keeping Your promises. Thank You that You have made a way for us to be saved from sin through Jesus. Help us to trust You, obey You, and remember that You are always faithful. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen."
Family Challenge of the Week: “Rainbow Reminders”
Create your own rainbow reminder of God’s promises! As a family, make a rainbow using paper, craft supplies, sidewalk chalk, or even snacks. On each color, write, draw, or point and say something that reminds you of a promise God has made in His Word or a way God has been faithful to your family.
Throughout the week, whenever you see a rainbow—or your family’s rainbow reminder—pause and say together: “God always keeps His promises!”
