Experience God For A Lifetime

Our heartbeat at CB KiDS is simple: we want every KiD to experience God for a lifetime. These resources are here to help you bring faith into the everyday moments at home—because parenting is better when we do it together.

At CB KiDS, our heart is for every child to experience God for a lifetime. We know that faith begins in the home, around the dinner table, at bedtime, or even in the carpool line, and you don’t have to do it alone. That’s why we’ve created this space just for you. Here you’ll find weekly family devotionals aligning with our Sunday lessons, a Spotify playlist to fill your home with truth, and other resources to encourage you along the way.

Parenting is better when we do it together, and at CB KiDS we’re with you—cheering you on as you raise KiDS who love and follow Jesus.

Faith at home starts now!

The Month of October

The Bible is one big story—and it’s all about Jesus!

At CB KiDS, we use The Biggest Story curriculum to help our kids see how the whole Bible points to Jesus. From Genesis to Revelation, every story in Scripture reveals God’s love for His people and His plan to rescue and redeem us through Jesus.

We believe the gospel is more than a message our kids hear—it’s the greatest teacher they will ever have. God’s grace, revealed through Jesus, redeems us, trains us, and shapes us to love God and live for His Kingdom (Titus 2:11–14).

That’s why we want to partner with you as parents! What happens at church is just the beginning. We encourage you to spend time each week going deeper together as a family and helping your children see how the Bible points to Jesus.

Below, you’ll find a devotional for each week of this month, selected from The Biggest Story Family Devotional. The original devotional as well as The Biggest Story Bible Storybook is available for purchase through Amazon and other online retailers. Here you can find in depth story overviews, discussion questions, gospel connections, prayer and more.

To better serve our kids and families at Coppell Bible, the devotionals below have been thoughtfully adapted from the The Biggest Story by our CB KiDS Team to simplify the language and to meet the developmental needs of a wide range of children.

Our prayer is that, week after week, your family would grow to see the Bible not simply as a collection of stories, but as one beautiful, unfolding story of God’s grace, love, rescue, and redemption through Jesus.

Big Truth:

God is faithful, even when people fail.

Memory Verse – 2 Timothy 2:13

“When we are faithless, He remains faithful.”

Bible Passage: Genesis 18-19: The story of Sodom and Gomorrah

Big Idea: God judges sin justly.

Story Preview:

Each time Abraham doubted and disobeyed, God came to him and reminded him of their covenant. When God told Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son, Sarah laughed because she couldn’t believe that she could have a child. She was old! She doubted God and even lied to Him about it. Sarah sinned because she didn’t trust God. In this story, we learn that Sarah wasn’t the only sinner. There was a whole city full of sinners. And we will see that, while God promises good things for His people (He forgives sinners), He also promises to punish His enemies for the bad things they’ve done (He judges sinners).

Gospel Connection:

God sees all the wrong things we do, and He knows when we sin. God does not want us to sin, and He judges sin because He is good and just. The people in Sodom and Gomorrah chose to keep sinning, and God judged them. But God rescued Lot and his family. We all sin, too, and we all deserve God's judgment. But God loves us and made a way for us to be forgiven- just like He did for Lot, but even better! Jesus took the punishment for our sins when He died on the cross. When we believe in Jesus, He forgives our sins and saves us. That is very good news!

Discussion Questions:

  • What does this story teach us about God? OR What did God do in the story?
    • (God judges sin. God is just. God saves His people. God makes a way for us to be saved from our sin)
  • Question: How does that remind you of the story of Jesus?
    • (Jesus is the way we get to be saved from our sins! Just like God saved Lot in the story, God saves us when we trust Him as our Savior!)

Big Takeaway:

God judges sin because He is just. But He forgives sin when we believe because He loves us!

Prayer:

"Dear God, thank You for loving us even though we sin. Please help us to turn away from our sins. Thank You for sending Jesus to take the punishment for our sins. Thank You that we can be forgiven when we believe in Jesus. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen."

Bible Passage: Genesis 21-22: The story of Issac, Abraham, and the Sacrificial Ram

Big Idea: God provides everything we need when we have faith!

Story Preview:

Remember the beginning? God created everything. He created Adam and Eve and put them in a beautiful garden. They loved God and they loved each other. Everything was exactly how it should be. When they disobeyed, God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden. Now, things weren’t all how they should be. But God still loved His people and had a plan to rescue them. Part of that plan was a promise that God made to Abraham. God promised Abraham that his family would be a blessing to all the families in the world. Abraham didn’t have any children, but God promised him that he would– even though he and his wife were very old. Abraham believed God’s promise was true. Many years later, God gave Abraham a son.

Gospel Connection:

God asked Abraham to do something very hard: give up his son, Isaac. Abraham trusted God and obeyed Him. But God stopped Abraham and gave him a ram to take Isaac's place instead. God was showing us something very important: He always keeps His promises and He always provides. Abraham had lots of faith to trust that God would do that! Many years later, God provided His own Son, Jesus, to take our place. Jesus is called the Lamb of God because He gave His life for us, just like that ram that God gave Abraham instead of Issac. We all sin, and sin deserves punishment, but Jesus took our punishment when He died on the cross. Because of Jesus, we can be forgiven and have life with God. God provides what we need, and Jesus is our Savior!

Discussion Questions:

  • What does this story teach us about God? OR What did God do in the story?
    • (God is trustworthy and He always provides what we need.)
  • How does that remind you of the story of Jesus?
    • (Just like God provided the ram as a sacrifice, God provided Jesus to be our perfect sacrifice.)

Big Takeaway:

When we have faith (or believe) in Jesus, God takes care of the rest. He forgives us of all our sins and takes care of us.

Prayer:

"Dear God, thank You for providing everything we need. Thank You for sending Jesus to take the punishment for our sins. Help us trust You and obey You. Thank You that Jesus is our Savior! In Jesus' name we pray, Amen."
