At CB KiDS, our heart is for every child to experience God for a lifetime. We know that faith begins in the home, around the dinner table, at bedtime, or even in the carpool line, and you don’t have to do it alone. That’s why we’ve created this space just for you. Here you’ll find 3 weekly family devotionals aligning with our Sunday lessons, a Spotify playlist to fill your home with truth, and other resources to encourage you along the way.

Parenting is better when we do it together, and at CB KiDS we’re with you—cheering you on as you raise KiDS who love and follow Jesus.

December – Jesus Is God’s Greatest Gift


Memory Verse: Luke 2:11 (NKJV):

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Big Idea:

Jesus is God’s ultimate expression of love—the greatest gift ever given.

Week 1: God Promises a Savior | DEVO 1

Lesson Text: Isaiah 9:6–7; Luke 1:26–38
Big Idea: God promised to send Jesus, our Savior.

Devo 1 — A Child Is Born

Bible Reading — Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV):
6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Devotional:
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God promised a special Child would come. He would be our Savior and King. Jesus is that promise come true—He is Wonderful, Mighty, and our Prince of Peace.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What names are given to Jesus in this verse?
  2. Why do you think God promised a Savior long before He came?
  3. Which name of Jesus do you like best, and why?

Interactive Activity:
Write Jesus’ names on slips of paper. Draw one out and shout it together.

Prayer:
“God, thank You for promising a Savior. Thank You that Jesus is Wonderful and our Prince of Peace.”

Week 1: God Promises a Savior | DEVO 2

Lesson Text: Isaiah 9:6–7; Luke 1:26–38
Big Idea: God promised to send Jesus, our Savior.

Devo 2 — Mary’s Surprise

Bible Reading — Luke 1:30–31 (NKJV):
30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.”

Devotional:
Mary was an ordinary girl, but God chose her for something amazing—she would be the mother of Jesus. She was afraid at first, but the angel reminded her not to fear. God’s promises give us courage too.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What message did the angel give Mary?
  2. Why do you think she was afraid?
  3. How does God’s love help us when we’re scared?

Interactive Activity:
Act out the angel’s message. One child is Mary, another is the angel.

Prayer:
“God, thank You for keeping Your promise by sending Jesus. Help me trust You like Mary did.”

Wrap-Up (interactive):
Parent: “What did the angel tell Mary?”

Week 1: God Promises a Savior | DEVO 3

Lesson Text: Isaiah 9:6–7; Luke 1:26–38

Devo 3 — Nothing Is Impossible

Bible Reading — Luke 1:37–38 (NKJV):
37 For with God nothing will be impossible. 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Devotional:
The angel told Mary that nothing is impossible with God. Mary trusted God’s promise and said yes. God’s Word always comes true, even when it seems impossible.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What did the angel say about God?
  2. How did Mary respond to God’s promise?
  3. What’s something hard you need to trust God with?

Interactive Activity:
Each person share one “impossible” thing God has done (in Bible or life).

Prayer:
“God, thank You that nothing is impossible for You. Help me trust Your promises like Mary did.”

Week 2: The Savior Is Born | DEVO 1

Lesson Text: Luke 2:1–7; Matthew 1:18–25
Big Idea: Jesus, God’s Son, is born for us.

Devo 1 — Born in Bethlehem

Bible Reading — Luke 2:6–7 (NKJV):
6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Devotional:
Jesus, the Son of God, was born in a humble stable. The King of Kings came quietly, not in a palace, but in a manger. God showed us His love by sending Jesus to be born for us.

Discussion Questions:
  1. Where was Jesus born?
  2. Why do you think God chose such a humble place?
  3. What does this teach us about God’s love?

Interactive Activity:
Make a simple “manger” with a box and blanket. Place a doll or stuffed animal inside.

Prayer:
“God, thank You for sending Jesus to be born for me. Thank You for showing Your love in such a special way.”

Week 2: The Savior Is Born | DEVO 2

Lesson Text: Luke 2:1–7; Matthew 1:18–25
Big Idea: Jesus, God’s Son, is born for us.

Devo 2 — God With Us

Bible Reading — Matthew 1:23 (NKJV):
23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

Devotional:
Jesus’ name “Immanuel” means “God with us.” God didn’t stay far away—He came close to live among us. That means we are never alone.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What does “Immanuel” mean?
  2. Why is it important that God came to be with us?
  3. How does knowing Jesus is with you encourage you?

Interactive Activity:
Hold hands in a circle and say together: “God is with us!”

Prayer:
“Jesus, thank You for being Immanuel—God with us. Help me remember You’re always near.”

Wrap-Up (interactive):
Parent: “Who is Immanuel?”
KiDS: “Jesus—God with us!”
Week 2: The Savior Is Born | DEVO 3

Lesson Text: Luke 2:1–7; Matthew 1:18–25
Big Idea: Jesus, God’s Son, is born for us.

Devo 3 — Joseph’s Obedience

Bible Reading — Matthew 1:24–25 (NKJV):
24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

Devotional:
Joseph trusted God and obeyed the angel, even though it was hard. He named the baby “Jesus,” just as God said. When we obey God, we show we trust Him too.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What did the angel tell Joseph to do?
  2. How did Joseph show trust in God?
  3. What’s one way you can obey God this week?

Interactive Activity:
Play “Simon Says,” then connect it to obeying God’s commands.

Prayer:
“God, thank You for Joseph’s obedience. Help me trust and obey You too.”

Week 3: Jesus Is the Good News | DEVO 1

Lesson Text: Luke 2:8–20
Big Idea: The birth of Jesus is joyful news for all!

Devo 1 — Good News of Great Joy

Bible Reading — Luke 2:10–11 (NKJV):
10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Devotional:
The angels told the shepherds the best news ever—Jesus the Savior was born! This news wasn’t just for them, but for all people, including us.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What did the angels announce to the shepherds?
  2. Why is Jesus’ birth “good news of great joy”?
  3. Who is this good news for?
Interactive Activity:
Shout together: “Good news! Jesus is born!”

Prayer:
“God, thank You for the good news of Jesus’ birth. Thank You that this joy is for all people.”

Wrap-Up (interactive):
Parent: “What is the best news ever?”

Week 3: Jesus Is the Good News | DEVO 2

Lesson Text: Luke 2:8–20
Big Idea: The birth of Jesus is joyful news for all!

Devo 2 — The Shepherds Go

Bible Reading — Luke 2:15–16 (NKJV):
15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

Devotional:
The shepherds didn’t wait—they hurried to see Jesus. When God shows us something amazing, the best response is to go and see, and then worship Him.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What did the shepherds do after hearing the angels’ message?
  2. Why do you think they hurried to see Jesus?
  3. How can we “go see” Jesus today?
Interactive Activity:
Pretend to run in place as fast as the shepherds going to Bethlehem.

Prayer:
“Jesus, thank You that we can come to You anytime. Help me seek You with joy like the shepherds.”

Week 3: Jesus Is the Good News | DEVO 3

Lesson Text: Luke 2:8–20
Big Idea: The birth of Jesus is joyful news for all!

Devo 3 — Glorifying God

Bible Reading — Luke 2:20 (NKJV):
20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Devotional:
After seeing Jesus, the shepherds couldn’t stop praising God. When we experience Jesus, our hearts should overflow with worship too.

Discussion Questions:
  1. How did the shepherds respond after seeing Jesus?
  2. Why is praise the right response to God’s love?
  3. What’s one way you can glorify God this week?
Interactive Activity:
Sing a favorite Christmas carol together as praise.

Prayer:
“God, thank You for Jesus! Help me glorify You with my words and actions.”

Wrap-Up (interactive):
Parent: “What did the shepherds do after seeing Jesus?”
